Every step we take together brings us closer to a brighter future. As we prepare for this year’s Walk & Roll campaign, we are calling on our incredible community of families, friends, and supporters to join us in making this our biggest year yet!
Whether you walk around your neighborhood, gather friends at a local park, or launch an online fundraiser, your participation opens doors for critical research, clinical care, and support for families navigating a Lowe syndrome diagnosis.
If you’re thinking about starting a fundraiser or hosting a walk this year, but aren’t sure where to start, you are not alone. Take inspiration from Stephanie and James, who decided to jump in and host their very first Walk & Roll event last year.
Family Spotlight: Stephanie & James
When Stephanie and James set out to organize their first Walk & Roll event, they weren’t sure what to expect.

“I was super anxious,” Stephanie shares. They literally planned it in a week, choosing the library because it had a nice walking path. “We picked up a bunch of donuts and hot chocolate because it was so cold, and kind of winged it!”
Despite the short notice and cold weather, nearly 50 people turned out to walk, talk, and show their support for their 8-year-old son, Jackson. Together with online support and corporate matching gifts from friends and colleagues, they raised over $9,000 in their very first year.
For James, opening up about Jackson’s diagnosis was a big leap, but one that deeply moved those around him. “It was a hard thing to talk about for a while…” But then he realized sharing their story was spreading awareness. You never know who’s going to open the next door. “When it comes to your child’s life, sometimes you’ve got to suck up your pride and do what you’ve got to do.”

Stephanie’s advice for anyone considering starting their own event or page this year?
“If you’re even thinking about it, just do it. Start small—you don’t know what’s going to happen unless you try. There’s just a lot of people in our circle who love Jackson, and I think that’s what made the difference. Now we’re not as scared to do it, and we’re excited to make it even bigger this year!”
