Statement
Biennially, boys living with Lowe syndrome (ls) have the incredible opportunity to meet other boys living with the same syndrome. Most families, upon hearing their son is diagnosed with Lowe syndrome, are suddenly introduced to a medical journey which is foreign within their medical, educational and social community. This photography series depicts these boys in a social environment with other boys who are like themselves. They show many common behaviors such as interest in light, movement, music, electronics, books and socializing. The series depicts these boys in an accepting, comfortable environment where they show joyful resilience to their complex medical journey and have the freedom to just be themselves. My goal is to introduce awareness and encourage acceptance and understanding of these delightful boys living with a rare syndrome.
